What the numbers come from

Usable height subtracts the sprinkler drop and the 18-inch minimum clearance below sprinklers required by United States federal workplace rules. The use zone follows published guidance of a minimum 6 feet beyond the perimeter of an elevated platform. The 10-foot height, 150-square-foot and 600-square-foot thresholds are as adopted and published by named jurisdictions; confirm the edition your own building official enforces.
