The 12-Point Supplier Check
The 12-Point Supplier Check
Twelve questions worth putting to any indoor playground supplier quoting your project — including Toplay. Six of them are weighted double because they are the ones a non-manufacturing intermediary cannot answer consistently. Nothing you enter is captured or sent anywhere.
Answer as the supplier’s own page or quotation actually answers
1. Does the supplier build both stages — the welded steel frame and the sewn soft play — on its own premises? Weighted
2. Can they name the standard that applies in your destination market by its exact designation, not just a family name? Weighted
3. Will they ship a test report covering the configuration you are actually buying, rather than a generic one? Weighted
4. Does every stated lead time name the event that starts its clock?
5. Is the minimum order stated before you ask for it?
6. Are the payment milestones published, and does any money remain unpaid until after a pre-shipment check? Weighted
7. Do they name the documents that travel with the order?
8. Do they state what the trade term does not cover, as well as what it does?
9. Is the installation model defined in writing — who is on site, for how long, and who supplies local labour? Weighted
10. Can they say who physically remakes a wrong component, and against which written acceptance criteria? Weighted
11. Is drawing confidentiality stated, with an NDA available on request?
12. Will they tell you what they are not the right supplier for?
What to do with the result
- A supplier who cannot answer the six weighted questions is not necessarily a bad manufacturer — but you are buying on trust rather than on documents.
- Every one of the twelve is answerable in writing before a purchase order. Ask for the answers in the quotation, not in an email thread.
- Run it on more than one supplier. The spread between them is more informative than any single score.
