Accessible Entry Calculator

Entry-point count is a drawing decision, not a retrofit. US accessibility guidance for soft contained play structures sets the obligation by how many entry points the structure has, so the number changes the moment a fourth entrance goes on the plan. Enter your counts below — nothing is captured or sent anywhere. Works on any supplier’s layout, including ours.

Count the entry points on your current layout

Every point where a child enters the enclosed structure from the floor — steps, ramps, crawl tubes, transfer platforms.

An entry point reachable along the accessible route through the venue, not one you reach by climbing through the structure.

The rule this applies

Entry points on the structure Must sit on an accessible route
1 to 3 At least 1
4 or more At least 2

The step between three and four is where projects get caught. A layout drawn with three entrances carries a one-entry obligation; adding a fourth doubles it, and the second accessible route has to come from somewhere on a plan that was already full.

What this calculator does not decide

  • It counts entry points against the published rule. It does not certify a route, judge a slope, or replace a plan review.
  • Accessibility sits with the venue and its authority having jurisdiction, not with the equipment standard. Confirm the route itself with your own reviewer.
  • Fix the count at design approval. Entry points, zoning, age banding and padding coverage are all frozen at that step for exactly this reason.
